GEOLDemo Reflection Prompts
Participating students are required to share their experiences with the professor via a written reflection. Answer the following questions in essay format in one, single-spaced typed page. These questions are intended to take you through the what, so what, now what reflection model presented during your orientation session. The questions are numbered for your convenience, but do not include the numbers in your answers. Instead, construct your responses as a fluid essay. Please be brief, but specific, and remember to proofread!
- Briefly describe (in no more than 3 sentences) your participation in ScienceDemo. Your answer should include information on the demonstration you performed and when and where (school, teacher, and class) you performed it.
- In what ways did you incorporate principles of learning strategies, communication, and service-learning in your demonstration to meet the needs of your student audience? How did students respond to your demonstration?
- How did your experiences in ScienceDemo affect your understanding of the concepts taught in Geology?
- If you did two presentations, discuss the ways in which your demonstration changed from the first to the second presentation. You might include adjustments you made in content or delivery (and why), and your experiences during the presentations.
- What did you learn by participating in Science Demo about yourself—your learning style, your teaching skills, your communication skills? What surprised you about your ScienceDemo experience?
- What advice would you give to someone participating next semester in ScienceDemo to ensure a worthwhile experience?
- What else would you like to say about your participation in ScienceDemo?
